THE HISTORY OF DOWNTOWN AND SOMA
Downtown San Francisco is the city’s bustling commercial and cultural center, featuring iconic landmarks, the financial district, and a mix of modern office towers, historic buildings, and cultural institutions. It’s a hub for business, retail, and tourism, with easy access to transportation.
Just south, SoMa (South of Market) is a vibrant and rapidly evolving neighborhood, known for its tech innovation, creative industries, and cultural venues like SFMOMA. Once an industrial area, SoMa now blends modern offices, lofts, and nightlife, attracting startups, artists, and a youthful crowd. Both areas offer a dynamic mix of business, culture, and lifestyle.
